LOST HIKER, BADLANDS WILDERNESS AREA

Lost Person: Samantha Riedman, 21 of Olympia WA

On 03-25-2016 at about 08:45 am Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue received a call of a lost hiker in the Badlands Trails Area. Three DCSO SAR Teams were dispatched to that area. Samantha was located at about 11:25 am between Badlands Rock Trail and Tumulus Trail. It was learned that Samantha had decided to hike off trail, got disoriented and unable to find her way back to her camp. Samantha was found in good condition and escorted back to her camp.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue would like to remind people to please hike on existing trails when hiking a trail system, take plenty of snacks and water as well as a reliable GPS.
