DESCRIPTION:The Deschutes County Search and Rescue Foundation will be hosting our second annual Lost Ball Classic golf tournament at the Lost Tracks Golf Course on Thursday\, May 26\, 2016. The tournament will benefit the Deschutes County Search and Rescue Foundation. \nWhen\nThursday\, May 26\, 2016\n10:00 am Registration and Warm-up\n11:00 am Shotgun Start\n5:00 pm After Party and Putting Contest \nWhere\nLost Track Golf Course\n60205 Sunset View Drive\nBend\, Oregon 97702 \nTournament Format\nThe tournament will be played as a four-person team scramble with a shotgun start. Two teams will be playing against each other throughout the tournament\, starting at their assigned holes\, and competing against the entire field. Each team will be allowed to purchase 4 mulligans and 3 feet of string prior to the start of the round to be used by anyone on the team as decided by the team captain. \nThis is intended to be a quality golf experience but a fun event as well. There will be several Challenge Shots at selected holes during the tournament where player can win prizes. In addition\, during the entire month of March\, all proceeds from the sale of 10 Barrel “Drink More Give More” charity t-shirts will be donated to SAR. \nThe last Tuesday of each month we have the privilege of partnering with a local Non-Profit Organization and featuring them as our ‘Charity of the Month’\, said Pub Operations Manager Jon Weber. “We have received great local support since we opened the pub and we are happy that we have the opportunity to give back to the members of this community. \nMt. Bachelor Spring Ski Pass Raffle! Value $199\nMt. Bachelor has generously donated a Spring Season Pass to be raffled at the Deschutes County Search and Rescue Foundation fundraiser to be held a 10 Barrel on March 29th from 5pm – 9pm. \nEnjoy the most spring terrain and one of the longest seasons in North America with the Mt. Bachelor Spring Season Pass! Spring Passes are valid every day that Mt. DESCRIPTION:INSIGHTS THROUGH TRAGEDY:\nLessons Learned from Others’ Mistakes\nYou are invited to attend a dynamic 30-minute Water Safety Program presented by uniformed veteran Deschutes County Marine Deputy Tom Teaford. The presentation will take place during the 2016 Central Oregon Sportsmens Show in the “Red Theater” at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center. \nDates and Times\n\nFriday\, March 4th\, at 4pm\nSaturday\, March 5th\, at 11am\nSunday\, March 6th\, at 11am\n\nDeputy Teaford will cover several drownings that have occurred in Deschutes County. All incidents involved popular local on-the-water activities\, including swimming and boating. \nThrough photos and information gleaned from investigative reports\, the deputy will lead the audience through the events leading to each drowning and learn how a series of small\, seemingly innocent mistakes can lead to tragedy. General topics include the effects of cold water immersion\, peer pressure\, and risk evaluation. \nAfter each incident\, there will be discussion about how such mistakes could have been prevented. The deputy will also reveal some fresh and largely unknown information about life jackets which everyone will find intriguing. \nAbout Deputy Teaford\nTom Teaford\, age 63\, retired federal law enforcement ranger\, with extensive waterway patrol experience: \n\n12 years with the National Park Service at Whiskeytown Lake (California) and Lake Roosevelt (Washington)\,\n12 years with the Bureau of Land Management on the Lower Deschutes River in central Oregon.\nDeschutes County Marine Deputy since June 2008. Two lifesaving awards from the Oregon State Marine Board.\n\n
